Admissions for 2024/2025 | University of Warsaw (2024)

On 6th June, the University of Warsaw opened the registration for the first-cycle and long-cycle studies as well as some second-cycle studies. Candidates are offered about 300 study programmes. The first qualification results will be available on 22nd July.

The University of Warsaw’s offer includes the studies in the area of Exact and Natural Sciences, Social Science and the Humanities, as well as interdisciplinary programmes, and the programmes with English as the language of instruction. In the 2023/2024 academic year, the medical studies were introduced in the educational offer of the UW.

There are around 300 various study programmes at the UW. The full list of the studies that are available in the 2023/2024 academic year, including descriptions of particular courses and required qualifications, are provided on the UW Admissions Office’s website and in the Internet Recruitment for Candidates (IRK) System.

Admissions: key dates and deadlines
  • 6th June: registration via the IRK System is launched,
  • 10th July: the last day of the IRK registration,
  • 22nd July: admissions results published,
  • 23rd-25th July: first round of the reply to the offer by qualified candidates.

Results of the matura examination are crucial in the admission to the first-cycle and long-cycle studies. Some study programmes may require additional predisposition testing:

  • Architektura Przestrzeni Informacyjnych (in Polish),
  • interdisciplinary study programmes by the College of Interdisciplinary Individual Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences,
  • Logopedia ogólna i kliniczna (in Polish),
  • Psychology (Psychologia) – only in English,
  • Publikowanie współczesne (in Polish).

  • Business and Management

full-time, first-cycle, the Faculty of Management

The first-cycle programme aims to produce a graduate who is familiar with research methodology and terminology in management and in complementary disciplines such as economics, finance and legal sciences. The students learn about management and related disciplines, the basic principles of the creation and development of various forms of entrepreneurship. They are taught to act in an entrepreneurial manner.

  • Adult Education and Developmental Activities Design

The programme prepares students to work as educators, trainers, and educational programmme developers, especially in the context of the job market. These studies also focus on developing skills necessary for working in the field of non-formal and informal education for adults.

  • Alternative Education with Art Education (Edukacja alternatywna z edukacją artystyczną) – only in Polish

The language of instruction for the vast majority of courses run at the University of Warsaw is Polish, however several faculties offer a selection of programmes taught in foreign languages, mainly in English.

Recognition of foreign education

Recognition of a certificate or a level of education for purposes of admission to the first-cycle or long-cycle study programme in Poland is performed by the Education Superintendent appropriate for the place of residence of an applicant.

Recognition of a certificate or a level of education or the right to continue education is not required in case of:

  • certificates or other documents issued by schools operating in educational systems of EU, OECD or EFTA members, which allow access to higher education institutions in those countries;
  • IB diplomas (International Baccalaureate) issued by International Baccalaureate Organization in Geneva;
  • EB diplomas (European Baccalaureate) issued by European Schools in accordance with the Convention drawn up in Luxembourg on 21st June 1994;
  • certificates issued in countries with which Poland has signed bilateral agreements concerning the recognition of education.

A foreign degree giving access to further studies or the right to start doctoral proceedings in the country where it was awarded, gives its holder access to second-cycle study programmes, postgraduate studies, third-cycle / doctoral studies, or the right to start doctoral proceedings in Poland.
